Huaying glass craftsperson

THE HUAYING STORY

Built under
pressure.

A story of laid-off workers, direct export, cleaner furnaces and a belief that pressed glass could become a design language of its own.

/ THE BEGINNING

In May 1996, resolve became a workshop.

Yang Minghua had worked at a state-owned cement plant. When restructuring left her and many colleagues without work, she chose to build something new. The early team lived close to the workshop, travelled with sample cases and searched for export orders with candleholders and decorative pressed-glass crafts.

“The company did not begin with scale. It began with people willing to make one more sample, visit one more buyer and solve one more production problem.”

1996

A workshop begins

Chairwoman Yang Minghua gathered self-raised funds and fellow laid-off workers to begin producing pressed candleholders and decorative glass in Huishe Town, Pingshan County.

The library grew across tableware, decorative objects and holiday gifts, supported by new mould development and diversified markets in Europe, America, the Middle East and Australia.
